A hearty thank you to my supporters, volunteers, and donors for helping me get elected to the Santa Barbara City Council! This effort took everything: door-to-door contact, phone calls, newspaper ads, and even a TV spot, which raised my profile for a somewhat sleepy electorate.
Some of you are foot-sore, some of you made endless phone calls. Thanks to those of you who cooked food for the volunteers, delivered signs, ran errands, cheered me at events, lent moral support at forums, and even walked my dog! Others of you gave much-needed financial support – I’m happy to say we spent every penny wisely. Our mailers were well-designed and impactful. The TV ad hit home. Our timing on everything was right on.
We’ve been campaigning since early January, but my candidacy really peaked at the right time. It was amazing to have labor leader and social justice activist Dolores Huerta come to Santa Barbara and endorse me on the eve of the election. I am humbled by her support. I am grateful to all the individuals and organizations that gave me formal endorsements, financial assistance, and volunteer help.
