Lompoc-Based Animal Rescue Group Needs Volunteers; Garden Court's Holiday Boutique Will Benefit Low-Income Seniors in Santa Barbara
• VIVA (Volunteers for Inter-Valley Animals) is a nonprofit animal welfare group that provides shelter for hundreds of homeless cats in its no-kill, cage-free shelter/adoption center in Lompoc. The organization is in need of volunteers to help with a wide variety of undertakings at the VIVA facility — ranging from helping with routine shelter maintenance to providing technical assistance for VIVA’s Web site to simply playing, petting, and interacting with the friendly felines. Call 735-6741 for more info or visit vivaonline.org.
• Garden Court is a not-for-profit living facility for S.B.’s low-income seniors designed to help residents live independently for as long as possible. On Wednesday, December 7, the complex will host Garden Court’s Holiday Boutique and Open House at its 1116 De la Vina Street location. Up for grabs will be an array of delightful homemade crafts (all made by Garden Court residents), plus food and drink, a Christmas tree silent auction, and more. The event runs 6-8 p.m., and all proceeds benefit the Garden Court Resident Fund. Call 884-0095 for more info.
