But there are things to do to make the canines’ stay brighter. For example, homemade edible treats. To that end, the Santa Barbara Public Library System is hosting a dog-treat–making event for teens. Young folk ages 12-16 are invited to create two types of dough for two different dog biscuits. After they are baked, the bickies will be delivered to area shelters. Participants must bring two baking sheets. After making the raw dough, teens will take the uncooked creations home for baking. When the treats are cooked, they are ready for delivery, which teens can do themselves or they can be returned to the library for subsequent delivery to pups in need. The event takes place 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, at the Goleta Library (500 N. Fairview Ave.). Preregistration is required. For more info, call (805) 964-7878 or visit sbplibrary.org.
