Tournament of Champions Begins Wednesday
The Santa Barbara Dons visit Dos Pueblos High on Wednesday night (Dec. 18) in the opening game of the Channel League boys basketball season. San Marcos will be playing in the Jim Bashore Classic at Carpinteria, starting on Monday and Tuesday and finishing on the weekend.
Twenty-two girls basketball teams will compete in the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions. It gets under way Wednesday at three area gyms and will continue until the 43rd game, the championship of the Gold Division on Saturday night at Santa Barbara High. The host Dons will face Sierra Canyon in their first-round game Wednesday at 3 pm.
The San Marcos Winter Classic will feature 21 girls soccer matches on Friday and Saturday. The championship match will take place at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the San Marcos stadium.
