UCSB Professor Wins 2014 Physics Frontiers Prize

UC Santa Barbara physics professor and permanent member of the university’s Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics (KITP) Joseph Polchinksi is one of several laureates for the Milner Foundation’s 2014 Physics Frontiers Prize. According to the organization, this prize recognizes “transformative achievements in the field of fundamental physics and aim(s) to provide recipients with more freedom and opportunity to pursue future accomplishments.”

Journal Assesses the Impacts of Climate Change on People and Ecosystems

Devoted to an assessment of climate change effects on ecosystems and the consequences for people, the November issue of the Ecological Society of America’s journal “Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment” contains papers from a diverse group of more than 50 ecological scientists, including UC Santa Barbara’s Joshua Schimel, professor and chair of the Environmental Studies Program.
