Four of the county’s 18 warming centers will open their doors Wednesday and Thursday nights, offering indigent residents shelter on Christmas Eve and Christmas. Activated this week will be the Unitarian Society in Santa Barbara, Veterans Memorial Hall in Carpinteria, University United Methodist Church in Isla Vista, Peace Lutheran in Lompoc, and the Salvation Army in Santa Maria. The weather on Wednesday and Thursday evenings is expected to be clear but cold.
