The second week into the New Year, the public library’s Adult Literacy Program will offer training courses for new tutors. Three courses will be held on Sunday, January 11, 1-5 p.m.; Monday, January 12, 5:30-8:30 p.m.; and Tuesday, January 13, 5:30-7 p.m.

New volunteers must attend all three classes, which meet in the Faulkner Gallery at the main library on Anapamu Street. The tutors help adult learners learn skills such as how to communicate more clearly and how to help their own kids with their homework.

The program operates at all of the other public library locations, including Carpinteria, Goleta, Solvang, Montecito, and on the Eastside. Interested people can call (805) 564-5619 or contact literacy@santabarbaraca.gov for more information.
