Preliminary design for Fire Station 10 proposed for Western Goleta.

A new fire station in Western Goleta is being designed for what is now a sparsely wooded lot at 7952 Hollister Avenue, not far from the Hideaway housing development and Ellwood School. The City of Goleta invites residents to a meeting Thursday, November 17, 6-7:30 p.m. at the school’s Multipurpose Room (7686 Hollister) to learn about the project, view the proposed design, and hear the construction timeline.

Following a noxious hydrogen sulfide release from a water well being drilled up in Ellwood Canyon on October 9, the location has also been considered for a gas monitoring station, though it is not part of the current design, said Valerie Kushnerov, the city’s community relations manager.
