A Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputy suffered minor injuries on Tuesday after his patrol vehicle was broadsided by another car on northbound Highway 101 near the Glen Annie Road exit, according to a California Highway Patrol spokesperson. Just past noon on Tuesday, a deputy was driving with his lights and sirens on en route to an emergency incident. The deputy was driving behind a woman in a 2014 Toyota Camry, who signaled and moved into another lane. The deputy’s car was passing the Camry when the woman veered back into her original lane and hit the patrol car, pushing it into the center median before they collided once more.

Following the crash, both cars moved to the right shoulder of the freeway and waited for emergency responders. The deputy was taken to Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital with minor injuries; the woman and her passengers were uninjured. The CHP spokesperson said that alcohol and drugs weren’t found to be a factor in the collision.
