Accident Victims’ Families Able to Seek Punitive Damages

Judge Colleen Sterne said the families of three accident victims — killed by an out-of-control big rig when it descended down Highway 154 and crashed into their home — may seek punitive damages in a lawsuit against truck driver Joaquin Morales and the trucking company for which he drove. The suit alleges Morales was negligent in his driving and that his employer knew or should have known that he was an unsafe driver, given his history of traffic infractions.
