SBCC Student Sues School Over Hot Coffee
A Santa Barbara City College student is able to move ahead with a lawsuit that includes an allegation against her school, Judge Thomas Anderle ruled on 11/22. The student, Jamie Kroll, filed the suit when she spilled hot coffee on her leg, claiming she was burned and alleging the coffee was “excessively hot and unreasonably dangerous.” Kroll is going after SBCC and Jordano’s, which made the vending machine the coffee came out of. Jordano’s had argued Kroll’s lawsuit didn’t sufficiently state the claims alleged, but the judge saw otherwise. The college has not been served with the suit, however, and thus has not responded.
