Downtown Organization Director Steps Down
Bill Collyer Says He Has 'Mixed Emotions' About His Resignation
The Downtown Organization, a nonprofit group that works to boost business and cultural vitality in the heart of Santa Barbara, announced Wednesday that Executive Director Bill Collyer is stepping down from his position after more than six years at the helm. In a letter sent to the organization’s board of directors, Collyer said he had “mixed emotions” about his resignation. The letter did not indicate a reason for his departure.
“We wish him well in his future endeavors,” board member Dave Lombardi said in a prepared statement. The organization is still in the process of finding a new executive director, spokesperson Kate Schwab said. Boardmembers were not immediately available for comment.
The Downtown Organization, established in 1967, hosts several regular events in town including 1st Thursday, the State Street Flag Program, the Downtown Holiday Parade, and the Downtown Art & Wine Tour.
