Understatement of the year: we are a nation divided.

Typically, we talk about this divide in terms of geography. Red state vs. blue state…cities vs. suburbs vs. rural/farming communities.

However, the true common thread in Trump’s base vs. the rest of the world is their source of news and (mis)information. Studies have shown that MAGA loyalists get their news: 1) from FOX and 2) from Facebook, with no other form of media even registering enough of a percentage point to make the list. In the meantime, all other legitimate media has been labeled as the enemy of the state by our very own president.

We all know where FOX stands. Two weeks ago, the rare stalwart of truth on the network, Shepherd Smith, resigned unexpectedly further solidifying FOX’s role as Trump’s personal propaganda machine. Yesterday, Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook will not police the accuracy of political ads under the guise of “freedom of speech,” which will allow Trump 2020 ads – once again – to claim whatever they want. (Recall Hillary’s pedophile ring out of Comet Ping Pong’s Pizzaria? Yep, more of those.)

Back by popular demand, we are thrilled to host Jerry Roberts on the topic of the media in the 2020 election.Harry’s Plaza Cafe, Ranchero Room (21 and older)
