Jars and drawers filled with once living things may seem odd at first glance, but these specimens are representatives of the history of life on Earth. Beyond the dioramas and exhibits of natural history museums lies the world of natural history collections, often unknown to the general public. Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History Invertebrate Zoology Collection Manager Vanessa Delnavaz, M.A., will shed light on these biological collections that help us understand the biodiversity of life, and explain why our knowledge of it is so critical.
Science Pub is a monthly free lecture series presented by the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History. Join our fun and friendly conversation and quench your thirst for knowledge about science and nature. No tickets or reservations required, but be sure to get to Dargan’s early to secure a seat and order your favorite food and drink.
