Land Trust Treks are a series of guided hikes for the community to explore scenic Santa Barbara County and to meet your local Land Trust. Free and open to the public.
WHAT:
Join the Land Trust for a guided, educational hike at Haskell’s Beach! We will walk eastward on Haskell’s Beach which offers views, tide-pooling, two estuaries, birding interest, and fabulous geology. The trip considers the geologic controls on the oil history of the region, the ongoing dynamics of surf, uplift, and erosion today. We will also touch on the interplay of marine and terrestrial ecosystems in beach wrack: algae, plants, invertebrates, and birds.
This hike is intended for individuals aged 18 and older. The hike will be approximately 3 miles long, mostly flat, and exposed to the sun. There is a designated parking area located on Hollister Ave, west of the Sandpiper Golf Course. Restrooms and water can be found near the parking lot. This program will be held in English.
