This thirteen-minute digital surround-sound performance is based on the mesmerizing poem of the same title and promises to transport you to a whole new world of sound and storytelling. With James A. Moorer, a renowned composer at the helm, you can expect nothing short of musical brilliance.
The librettist of this production, Donna Decker, is a gifted writer with a knack for capturing the nuances of human emotions and weaving them into compelling narratives. Her skills as a storyteller are sure to leave you mesmerized and leave a lasting impression on your mind.
The producer of this production, Ralph Guggenheim, is a true master of his craft. With decades of experience in the entertainment industry, he has worked on some of the most iconic movies and shows of all time, including the legendary Pixar movie “Toy Story.” His expertise in creating captivating and visually stunning productions will elevate the overall experience of “THE MAN IN THE MANGROVES COUNTS TO SLEEP.”

Created by UCSB faculty member Dr. JoAnn Kuchera-Morin, the Allosphere is a three-story spherical structure that is entirely immersive and interactive. It is equipped with advanced computing and audiovisual technologies that allow performers and audiences to experience sound and visuals in a way that is truly unparalleled.
