Bart Devolder will discuss the role a conservator plays in the life of an artwork. What does it mean to respect the artist’s original intention during a restoration treatment and can we even know what those intentions were?

Using several case studies Devolder will illustrate that restoring a work of art to its former glory is not always straightforward.
