Collaborating with the Social Justice Book Club at Santa Barbara’s Public Library, DramaDogs created an original theater piece exploring the themes of many of the books that the group read over the course of a year. The piece represents a blending of powerful literature with personal stories and theatrical sensibilities. The authors represent different identities ranging from race, gender, ability, and economic position. Along with informing and inspiring us, they remind us that we don’t know everyone’s self-identity, or experience or circumstance and that wonder, respect, and hope emerges when we stay open to receive ourselves and each other.
View the piece and then join us for this conversation with the actors, crew, and staff that helped bring this piece to life.
Please register to receive the link to join.
This event is an opportunity for viewers to express and/or question their experience of the piece and deepen their understanding of the process of putting the piece together. Additionally, participants will be able to engage in dialogue with the artists and fellow community members.
