Approximately 100 protesters gathered at the Tre Lune Italian restaurant in Montecito Saturday afternoon, fighting the state’s recent shutdown order that forbids restaurants from serving food to diners on-site.

The restaurant served pizza and water bottles to the mostly masked protesters, although a handful didn’t wear masks at all or took their masks down to eat the pizza being served on-site. Several people gave speeches at the rally, including Tre Lune owner Gene Montesano and even pop star Katy Perry’s father, Keith Hudson.

There were a handful of signs brandished at the protest with slogans that read, “Where is the science?” and “Enough is enough.”

Despite most of the protesters wearing masks, the event was not socially distanced and protesters were packed tightly together. Everyone began to disperse about 45 minutes after the event began.
