This six-piece bluegrass group has been gigging its way around Santa Barbara for less than a year, but they are already making a name for themselves. The band — which consists of Daniel Elkin (mandolin), Ilan Macadam-Somer (cello), Zach Witter (guitar), Jonathan Bastian (banjo, fiddle), Kynan Witters Hicks (cajon and djembe), Kai Kopecky (upright bass) — plays “traditional bluegrass and old-timey fiddle tunes, with added elements of Latin and funk music,” according to Elkin, drawing influences from the Grateful Dead, Billy Strings, Doc Watson, and the New Grass Revival. They plan to write new songs over the summer then record an album in the fall.
