Vera Young

Vera Young, also known by “Granny” to all, passed away peacefully at the family home after a brief illness of Leukemia at the age of 81. She showed her resiliency and love through her last days. Although her family and friends will miss her dearly, we take comfort in knowing she was peaceful, and her spirit is reunited with her heavenly family.

Vera “Granny” was loved by many for her kindness, warmth, and unconditional love. She formed many relationships that will be treasured by all.                                                              

Vera’s passion was her family, she was happiest when everyone was together celebrating birthdays, football games, holidays, and especially Easter brunch at the beach. We will all miss her big smile and infectious laughter that would bring joy to all those around her.  In addition, she gave selflessly in her work as a Certified Nurse Assistant for many years. She cared for the patients as if they were her extended family. All that knew Vera, will cherish special memories as she touched so many lives.

Vera was predeceased by her first husband Richard Rivas and then her beloved husband, Victor Young of 41 years. She was also predeceased by her son, Jeffrey Rivas. Vera is survived by her daughter Felicia Archer and her son in law Chris Archer. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren; Anthony Archer (Angie), Kyle Archer and Angelique Rivas. She had 7 great-grandchildren: Lynett, Kason, Aria, Suria, Kahlani, Anessa, and Reanna. As well as sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, and cousins.                                                                                            

Public services will be held on Friday, March 18th, 2022 at 11am at the Old Mission of Santa Barbara with a private reception to follow.
